GB/T 20840.10-2025 Instrument transformers—Part 10:Additional requirements for low-power passive current transformers
Basic Information
Scope
This document specifies the supplementary technical requirements for low-power passive current transformers (LPCTs) with only analog voltage output in terms of terminology and definitions, rated values, design and structure, testing and consultation, bidding and ordering instructions, etc. This document applies to newly manufactured analog LPCTs with a rated frequency of 15 Hz to 100 Hz, used for measurement, protection, or multi-purpose functions involving both measurement and protection in electrical measurement instruments or relay protection devices. This document does not apply to electronic current transformers with digital output or those using any type of active electronic component technology. Note 1: GB/T 20840.5-6.1003 specifies the accuracy requirements for passive LPCTs used in electrical measurement instruments. Note 2: GB/T 20840.5-6.1004 specifies the accuracy requirements for passive LPCTs used in relay protection devices, particularly for protection methods that maintain accuracy even when the current reaches several times the rated value. Additionally, it specifies the transient accuracy of passive LPCTs during fault conditions if required. Note 3: Passive LPCTs only have analog voltage output (for digital output or technologies using any type of active electronic components, refer to GB/T 20840.8). Such passive LPCTs may include secondary signal cables (transmission cables). Appendix 10C explains the working principle of derivative-type LPCTs using hollow coils (Rogowski coils), and Appendix 10D explains the working principle of proportional-type LPCTs using integrated shunt resistors and core coils.
