Scope
This standard specifies the gas chromatography-mass spectrometry method for the determination of 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in traditional Chinese medicines, including naphthalene, acenaphthene, anthracene, fluorene, phenanthrene, anthracene, fluoranthene, pyrene, benzo(a)anthracene, chrysene, benzo(b)fluoranthene, benzo(k)fluoranthene, benzo(a)pyrene, indeno(1,2,3-cd)pyrene, dibenzo(a,h)anthracene, and benzo(g,h,i)perylene. This standard is applicable to the detection of these 16 PAHs in traditional Chinese medicines such as Astragalus, Paeonia lactiflora, Dendrobium, mulberry bark, cascara sagrada, chrysanthemum, Celastrus paniculatus, bitter almond, and Poria.
