Scope

This document specifies the requirements for the nameplates of worm gear drive units, and provides recommended values for center distances, as well as parameters and requirements provided by users to manufacturers.
This document is applicable to the design and manufacture of closed-type worm gear drives with a center distance of no more than 1,000 mm. For center distances greater than 1,000 mm or open-type worm gear drives, reference should be made to other standards. This document does not specify parameters such as center height, module and worm diameter coefficient, or the structure and dimensions of the shaft ends. These parameters shall be agreed upon by users and manufacturers through consultation.
