Scope

This standard specifies the definition, dimensions and shapes of temperature measuring cones, standard temperatures, heating rates, verification of bending and folding temperatures, and markings for temperature measuring cones. This standard applies to standard temperature measuring cones for laboratories (small cones with a temperature range of 1,500°C to 1,800°C) and temperature measuring cones for industrial furnaces (large cones with a temperature range of 1,220°C to 1,580°C), which are used to determine the refractoriness of refractory materials equivalent to the temperature measuring cones according to specified procedures and to display and control the heating effect of industrial furnaces, respectively.
