GB/T 8498-2025 Earth-moving machinery—Basic types—Identification and vocabulary

Scope

This document defines the classification terms and identification structure of earthmoving machinery according to the following operational purposes:
—— Excavation;
—— Loading;
—— Transportation;
—— Drilling, spreading, compacting, or digging trenches in soil, rocks, or other materials, such as work on roads, dams, quarries, mines, and construction sites.
The purpose of this document is to provide an accurate method for identifying earthmoving machinery based on its functions and structures, which may include additional classifications based on the machine's working quality and the driver's control mode.
Appendix A provides information on the identification structure adopted in this document and the use of this structure to classify earthmoving machinery, thereby deriving a detailed identification method.
Appendix B provides block diagrams of each driver's control mode for earthmoving machinery.
