Scope

This document describes the method for determining the apparent hardness (expressed in Shore hardness) of rubber rollers coated with vulcanized rubber or thermoplastic rubber. This method is only suitable for measurements with moderate accuracy requirements. The method and the instruments used are basically as described in ISO 48-4. The measurements are carried out on the curved surface of the treated rubber rollers, rather than on flat test pieces. This document specifies the Shore Type A and Type D instruments, the latter of which is used to measure high-hardness rubber rollers.
