Scope
This standard provides a method for scratching painted steel plates or specimens used in corrosion tests, where the dry film thickness of the coating system on these painted steel plates or specimens is less than 500 μm. This standard was developed based on a series of collaborative tests, in which no corrosion tests were conducted to determine the applicability of the scratching method.
This standard is applicable to scratching on metal plates or specimens of the following materials:
——Steel;
——Chemically treated steel;
——Aluminum or aluminum alloys;
——Chemically treated aluminum.
It is not applicable to scratching on galvanized metal plates, electroplated metal plates, or aluminum-coated specimens.
