Scope

This standard specifies the technical requirements for side and rear under-body protective devices of automobiles and trailers, as well as the technical requirements for vehicles. This standard applies to vehicles of classes N2, N3, O3, and O4. This standard does not apply to semi-trailer trucks; nor does it apply to vehicles designed and manufactured for special purposes, which cannot install side protective devices and rear under-body protective devices due to objective reasons. The rear under-body protection requirements do not apply to special-purpose vehicles specifically designed and manufactured for transporting long, non-segmented cargo (such as vehicles transporting timber and other goods).
