Scope

This document describes the method of determining the bromine index of petroleum hydrocarbons using potentiometric titration.
This document is applicable to petroleum hydrocarbons or mixtures with a final distillation point below 288 °C and essentially free of olefins and components lighter than isobutane, such as straight-run and hydrocracked naphthas, reformate feedstock oils, kerosene, and aviation turbine fuels. The bromine index determination range is 5 mg/100 g (calculated as Br) to 1,000 mg/100 g (calculated as Br).
