Scope

This standard specifies the minimum safety factor Zp for different institutional work levels, wire rope types, wire rope applications, and winding methods, as well as how to use these factors to determine the minimum breaking strength of wire rope. This standard also specifies the selection factors for drums and pulleys for different institutional work levels, wire rope types, and wire rope applications, and how to use these factors to determine the diameter of drums and pulleys. Appendix A lists the cranes and hoists to which this standard applies. Appendix B provides other factors that may need to be considered in addition to the above-mentioned factors when selecting wire rope and related equipment.
