Scope

This standard specifies the high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method for the determination of butyl hydroxyanisole (BHA), dibutyl hydroxytoluene (BHT), ethoxyquin (EQ), and propyl gallate (PG) in feed, as well as the gas chromatography (GC) method for the determination of BHA, BHT, and EQ in feed.
The HPLC method is suitable for the determination of BHA, BHT, EQ, and PG in compound feed, compound premix feed, concentrated feed, fish meal, and bone meal; the GC method is suitable for the determination of BHA, BHT, and EQ in compound feed and fish meal.
The detection limits of the HPLC method are: BHA 1.1 mg/kg, BHT 1.6 mg/kg, EQ 1.8 mg/kg, and PG 1.3 mg/kg; the quantification limits are: BHA 5.6 mg/kg, BHT 8.0 mg/kg, EQ 8.8 mg/kg, and PG 6.5 mg/kg.
