Scope

1.1 This standard specifies the requirements for materials, design, manufacturing, inspection, and acceptance of spiral plate heat exchangers. 1.2 This standard applies to both detachable and non-detachable spiral plate heat exchangers. Type I spiral plate heat exchangers are non-detachable; Type II (blocked type) and Type III (through-type) spiral plate heat exchangers are detachable. 1.3 This standard applies to spiral plate heat exchangers made of carbon steel, low-alloy steel, austenitic stainless steel, austenitic-ferritic duplex stainless steel, and titanium (titanium alloys).
