Scope
This standard specifies the grades, dimensions, shapes, weights, and allowable deviations of carbon structural steel; technical requirements; test methods; inspection rules; packaging; marking; and quality certificates. This standard applies to hot-rolled steel plates, steel strips, sections, and steel bars that are generally used in their delivered condition and are typically used in welding, riveting, and bolting engineering structures. The chemical compositions specified in this standard also apply to steel ingots, continuous casting billets, steel billet, and their products.
