Scope

This standard specifies the method of measuring the birefringence of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) films using the Senneman method, including the determination of the main strain direction and phase delay.
This standard applies to PET films manufactured by unidirectional or bidirectional stretching processes, and other plastic films manufactured by stretching processes can also be used.
Note: This standard only involves the surface birefringence of films, and the in-plane birefringence is not considered.
