Scope

This standard specifies the methods of hot ethanol titration, cold solvent titration, and the calculation and expression of results, as well as the precision, for determining the acid value and acidity of animal and vegetable oils using automatic titration analyzers.
In this standard, the hot ethanol titration method is the reference method and is suitable for all oils; the cold solvent titration method is only suitable for light-colored oils.
This standard is not applicable to the determination of the acid value and acidity of waxes.
