Scope

This standard specifies the method for determining the saturated hydrocarbons, olefins, and aromatic hydrocarbons in automotive gasoline using gas chromatography. This standard can also determine the benzene content, oxygenated compounds, and total oxygen content in automotive gasoline.
This standard is applicable to the determination of total aromatic hydrocarbon content (by volume fraction) not exceeding 50%, total olefin content (by volume fraction) ranging from 1.5% to 30%, oxygenated compound content (by volume fraction) ranging from 0.8% to 15%, total oxygen content (by mass fraction) ranging from 1.5% to 3%, and benzene content (by volume fraction) not exceeding 2% in automotive gasoline.
