GB/T 20194-2018 Determination of starch in feeds—Polarimetry

Scope

This standard specifies the refractometry method for determining the starch content in animal feed. This standard is applicable to the determination of starch content in feed raw materials, compound feed, supplementary feed, concentrated feed, and premixes of additives. This standard is not applicable to products containing substances other than starch that are optically active during the analysis process and insoluble in 40% ethanol, such as potato pulp, sugar beet fibers, leaves, roots, crowns, yeast, soybean products, lupin, and products rich in glucose (such as chicory root and Jerusalem artichoke). In these cases, the starch content can be determined by enzymatic methods. This standard is not applicable to the quantitative determination of starch with more than 40% amylose, such as high-amylose corn starch Hylon VII.
