Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, and storage of chemical oxygen demand (COD) meters. This standard applies to meters used to detect COD in water bodies such as domestic sewage, industrial wastewater, and surface water. The detection principles or methods generally use the potassium dichromate oxidation-redox titration method, the potassium dichromate oxidation-spectrophotometry method, and the potassium dichromate oxidation-coulometric titration method. Other COD meters (hereinafter referred to as "instruments") with different principles or detection methods may refer to this standard.
