Scope

1.0.1 In order to standardize the design of highway traffic safety facilities and give full play to the functions of traffic safety facilities, these specifications are formulated. 1.0.2 These specifications apply to the design of traffic safety facilities for new and modified/expanded highways of all grades. 1.0.3 The design content of highway traffic safety facilities includes traffic signs, traffic markings (including raised road signs), guardrails and railings, sight guidance facilities, isolation fences, anti-fall nets, anti-glare facilities, escape lanes, and other traffic safety facilities (including windproof fences, snow-proof fences, snow-pile markers, height-limiting frames, speed-reducing humps, and convex mirrors). 1.0.4 Highway traffic safety facilities should be designed comprehensively based on the road network and highway technical conditions, terrain conditions, traffic conditions, and environmental conditions. Traffic safety facilities should be coordinated and used in conjunction with each other. 1.0.5 The design of highway traffic safety facilities should adhere to the principles of people-oriented, prevention-first, systematic design, and highlighting key points. On the basis of comprehensive traffic safety analysis, active guidance facilities should be prioritized, and passive protection facilities should be installed as needed. 1.0.6 The design of new highway traffic safety facilities should consider the impact of highway operation and maintenance factors. The design of modified/expanded highway traffic safety facilities should be based on surveys and comprehensive analysis of existing highways, taking into account the modified/expanded highway, traffic, and environmental conditions. Existing facilities should be rationally utilized and improved. 1.0.7 The design traffic volume of highway traffic safety facilities should adopt the design traffic volume of the highway project. The adopted design vehicle outer dimensions and represe
