Scope

This standard specifies the definitions, principles, equipment, samples, test procedures, result calculation, test errors, and test reports for the determination of thermal expansion of refractory materials. This standard is applicable to the determination of the linear expansion rate, average linear expansion coefficient, and instantaneous linear expansion coefficient of refractory materials. This standard includes the following two thermal expansion test methods: a) the differential method; b) the top-rod method.
