Scope
This standard describes the relevant matters concerning the measurement of hysteresis loss in Cu/NbTi multi-filament composite wires using DC or low-sweep field rate magnetometers. This standard is aimed at measuring hysteresis loss in Cu/NbTi multi-filament composite conductors. The measurement should be conducted on circular wires at a temperature of 4.2 K or near 4.2 K. DC or low-sweep field rate magnetometers use superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUID) or vibrating sample magnetometers (VSM). If differences are found in the results obtained using different (but all calibrated) magnetometers during the measurement, the results measured by the VSM extrapolated to zero sweep field rate shall prevail.
