Scope

This standard specifies the classification and designations, requirements and test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking, transportation, storage, and safety of marine fuel oil produced from petroleum. This standard applies to marine diesel engines and boiler fuel oil. Fuel oil that meets this standard is also suitable for fixed-type diesel engines and other marine machinery manufactured in the same or similar way. This standard specifies four types of distillate fuel oil and six types of residual fuel oil for use in ships. Among them, distillate fuel DMX is used for emergency use by diesel engines.
