Scope

This document specifies the requirements for the collection, reception, preparation, preservation, transportation, storage, distribution, destruction, and disposal of animal biological samples (excluding humans). Such resources include solid tissue samples, fluids and related cells, excreta, and related data. This document applies to biological samples or/and related data used for research and development, as well as to biological molecules obtained from biological samples, such as nucleic acids, proteins, and metabolites. This document applies to all organizations conducting research and developing biological sample banks. This document does not apply to biological samples used for food or feed production, laboratory research for food or feed production or therapeutic purposes, or a combination of the above. This document does not apply to the establishment of cell lines derived from animal biological samples. Note: International, national, and regional regulations or requirements also apply to specific provisions of this document.
