GB 40879-2021 Maximum allowable values of energy efficiency and energy efficiency grades for data centers

Scope

This document specifies the energy efficiency grades and technical requirements, statistical scope, and testing and calculation methods for data centers.
This document is applicable to newly built and renovated data centers, as well as to individual or modular units of data center buildings that adopt independent power distribution, air cooling, and electric air conditioning for energy consumption measurement, energy efficiency calculation, and assessment.
This document is not applicable to edge data centers.
Data centers that use other non-air conditioning equipment can refer to this document for implementation.
Note: A new data center refers to a data center that is newly started to build by the construction unit in accordance with the prescribed procedures. A renovated data center refers to a data center that is converted into a data center by the construction unit from an existing building, or a data center room that is reconstructed into a new data center. An expanded data center refers to a data center that is expanded in business capacity by the construction unit, such as increasing the number of data center cabinets or increasing the power consumption of cabinets. An edge data center refers to a small-scale data center that is deployed at the network edge, close to the user side, and realizes functions such as edge data computing, storage, and forwarding. The single-unit scale of an edge data center does not exceed 100 standard racks.
