Scope

This part of GB/T 16850 specifies the measurement methods of spectrometers and electrospectrometers for the noise parameters of single-channel optical amplifiers (OAs), as well as the measurement method of the signal-to-total amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) power ratio (Sig_ASE), and establishes unified requirements for accurate and reliable measurement of OA noise parameters.
This part is applicable to single-channel OAs, including optical pump fiber amplifiers based on rare earth element doping or the Raman effect, semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) modules, and planar lightwave circuit amplifiers for the measurement of noise parameters.
