Scope
This standard specifies the technical methods and requirements for measuring in-situ stress using hydraulic fracturing and core extraction methods.
This standard is applicable to field measurements for obtaining in-situ stress data in underground engineering. Two-dimensional measurements using hydraulic fracturing are used to determine the magnitude and direction of plane stress on the cross-section of a borehole; three-dimensional measurements using hydraulic fracturing and core extraction methods are used to determine the magnitude and direction of three-dimensional principal stresses.
