GB/T 40672-2021 Clinical laboratory testing—Criteria for acceptable lots of dehydrated Mueller-Hinton agar and broth for antimicrobial susceptibility testing
Basic Information
Scope
This document provides a standard description of the physical properties and performance standards for dehydrated MH broth (dMHB) and dehydrated MH agar (dMHA), so that manufacturers can evaluate the performance characteristics of their dMHB and dMHA production batches. The production batches of broth or agar can then be used by all users (including manufacturers of in vitro drug susceptibility testing devices) as culture media for conducting antimicrobial susceptibility tests.
This document does not address additives added to the culture media to support the growth of fastidious bacteria (such as blood or blood products) (CLSI method)[3][4][5][6]. These additives are added as a final product when the dehydrated culture media is prepared in liquid form and are not within the scope of this document. Although dMHA can be used in agar dilution methods[4][6] or gradient diffusion methods to determine MIC, this document only includes performance tests using the disc diffusion method in accordance with the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI)[5] and the European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST)[3].
