Scope

This standard describes the mechanical and acoustic specifications necessary for reproducible test methods for measuring airborne noise emitted by metal cutting machine tools (hereinafter referred to as machine tools) and related auxiliary equipment, based on the content of GB/T 17421.5—2015.
The purpose of this standard is to facilitate the comparison of test results for machine tool noise emission. The test results can be used for comparison, acceptance, maintenance, or other purposes.
This standard specifically stipulates the operating conditions for machine tools when conducting noise measurements without any cutting processes. These operating conditions are strictly maintained to ensure consistent sound power levels and sound pressure levels at specific locations.
This standard applies to:
——All turning machine tools, including numerical control (NC) lathes and turning centers;
——All milling machine tools, including numerical control (NC) milling machines and machining centers.
For machine tools that can perform both milling and turning functions, suitable measurement methods can be selected in this standard.
Future versions of this standard will cover more types of machine tools.
