Scope

This standard specifies the 0.1 ml counting frame-microscope counting method for measuring phytoplankton in water. This standard is applicable to the determination of phytoplankton density in surface water. When the sample is concentrated 50 times, the detection limit of the diagonal counting method is 9.2×103 cells/L; the detection limit of the row-column counting method is 3.0×103 cells/L; the detection limit of the full-slide counting method is 9.2×102 cells/L; and the detection limit of the random field counting method is related to the number of observed fields and the area of the microscope field, which is calculated according to Appendix A.
