Scope

This standard specifies the safety design evaluation method for preventing brittle fractures in transport containers for radioactive materials. This standard applies to the design of brittle fracture prevention for containment systems of transport containers for radioactive materials made of metallic materials such as ferritic steel, austenitic stainless steel, and nodular cast iron. The design of brittle fracture prevention for non-containment systems can be implemented with reference to this standard.
