Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, personnel requirements, inspection principles, inspection methods, inspection requirements, test pieces, probes, instruments and equipment, signal-to-noise ratio, stability, operation, result determination, and marking for ultrasonic inspection of steel rails.
This standard applies to ultrasonic inspection of railway steel rails with a weight of 37 kg/m to 75 kg/m. Ultrasonic inspection of other steel rails can also be carried out with reference to this standard.
