Scope

Scope: This document specifies the technical specifications for the fresh processing and slicing of Banlan Gen (Isatis indigotica Fort.) using traditional methods, including terms and definitions, processing requirements, process flow, and technical requirements. This standard applies to Banlan Gen fresh processing enterprises or cooperatives. Main technical content: 3.1 Source of Banlan Gen: This product is the root of the cruciferous plant Isatis indigotica Fort. 3.2 Raw materials are harvested in autumn, cleaned of sediment, and dried until the moisture content reaches approximately 30%. 3.3 Processing slices: The raw materials are subjected to traditional processing such as cleaning and slicing, referred to as fresh processing. 3.4 Misshapen slices refer to slices that do not meet the specifications set forth in this standard, such as uneven slices, chipped slices, and rough-skinned slices. 3.5 Drug residue and impurities are the crushed remnants of the raw materials after processing slices. 3.6 Processing bases should have relevant facilities and equipment, and be suitable venues for large-scale, standardized processing. 3.7 Cleaning involves removing non-medicinal parts and impurities from the raw materials. 3.8 Rinsing involves washing the cleaned raw materials with running drinking water until no soil or foreign matter remains. 3.9 Steeping involves softening the washed raw materials using a steeping machine or placing them in a steeping tank until they are soft enough for processing. 3.10 Slicing involves placing the cleaned raw materials on a slicing machine and cutting them into various specifications of Banlan Gen. 3.11 Drying involves drying the sliced raw materials. 3.12 Screening involves using automatic screening equipment to grade the dried slices according to market requirements and removing drug residue. 4 Processing Requirements 4.1 Suitable premises and workshops should be provided, and they should comply with t
