Scope
This part of GB/T 21649.1 specifies the method for determining the particle size distribution using static image analysis. This part is applicable to the determination of the particle size distribution of particles that can be obtained from a microscope. The particle size range measured by this part is a narrow distribution of less than 10:1. To obtain a reproducible volume average diameter, a distribution with a standard deviation of 1.6 that conforms to a normal distribution requires measuring more than 6,000 particles. If you want to obtain reliable percentage values, such as D90 or other percentage values, you must measure at least 61,000 particles. For details, see Appendix A.
