Scope

This standard specifies the design, construction, and strength requirements for safety devices and arrangements that minimize the risk of persons falling into the water and facilitate their reboarding of the boat.
The devices described in this standard, which can be used separately or in combination to achieve the above-mentioned purposes, are applicable to boats with a hull length of not more than 24 m.
This standard does not apply to the following types of boats:
—— Toy boats;
—— Canoes, kayaks, or other boats with a width of less than 1.1 m;
—— Personal boats included in ISO 13590;
—— Inflatable boats with a hull length of less than 8 m included in GB/T 20897.
