Scope
This document specifies the methods and requirements for determining the size distribution of aerosol particles by analyzing their electrokinetic mobility, commonly known as differential electrokinetic mobility analysis of aerosol particles.
This document is applicable to the measurement of particles with a size range of 1 nm to 1 μm.
This document applies to the method of calculating uncertainty, but does not address the design of specific instruments or measurements of size distribution with special requirements.
In this document, the complete system for performing differential electrokinetic mobility analysis is referred to as a differential mobility analysis system (DMAS), and the component that classifies particles based on their electrokinetic mobility is called a differential mobility classifier (DEMC).
Note: This document is not applicable to the technical requirements and specifications of DMAS applications defined in specific standards or guidelines, such as road vehicle applications (ISO/TC 22), environmental measurements (ISO/TC 146), or nanotechnology (ISO/TC 229).
