Scope

This document describes an intuitive and qualitative analysis method for determining the degradation rate and degree of disintegration of plastic materials under simulated marine environmental conditions.
This document is suitable for quickly assessing the tendency of plastic materials to degrade and disintegrate in marine environments.
Note: In the degradation tests specified in this document, the plastic materials are located at the interface between sandy sediments and seawater (a situation similar to that at the seabed, where most debris sinks, accumulates, and degrades under the seabed).
