GB/T 34691.1-2018 Plastics—Thermoplastic polyester(TP) moulding and extrusion materials—Part 1:Designation system and basis for specifications
Basic Information
Scope
This part of GB/T 34691 specifies a naming system for thermoplastic polyester (TP) molding and extrusion materials, which can serve as a basis for classification. Thermoplastic polyester (TP) materials include homopolymer polyesters based on polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTT), polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), polycyclohexylene terephthalate (PCT), polyethylene naphthalate (PEN), polybutylene naphthalate (PBN), and other types of thermoplastic polyester (TP), as well as multicomponent copolymer polyesters. Different types of thermoplastic polyester materials are distinguished by a classification system based on the values of the following specified characteristic properties and their recommended uses and/or processing methods, important properties, additives, colorants, fillers, and reinforcing materials: a) Viscosity; b) Tensile elastic modulus. This part applies to all homopolymer and copolymer thermoplastic polyesters, whether in powder, granular, or crushed form, modified or unmodified with colorants, additives, fillers, etc. This part does not apply to saturated polyester/esters and polyether/esters thermoplastic elastomers specified in ISO 20029. This part does not imply that materials with the same name must have the same properties. This part does not provide engineering data, performance data, or processing conditions required to illustrate the special uses and/or processing methods of materials. If needed, these additional properties can be determined using the test methods specified in Part 2 of GB/T 34691. To illustrate the special uses of a certain thermoplastic polyester material or to ensure reproducibility in processing, additional requirements can be specified in Character Set 5.
