Scope

This standard specifies the test method for determining the force required to open and close doors, and to lock and unlock hardware fittings with keys or handles.
This standard applies to manually operated pedestrian doors with locking devices in the form of swinging and sliding openings.
This standard does not apply to the measurement of closing force for doors equipped with automatic closing devices, nor to doors equipped with special hardware fittings such as emergency opening devices.
