Scope

This standard specifies the tube expansion test method for metal tube ring specimens, which uses a conical mandrel to expand the specimens until they break, in order to reveal defects on the surface of the metal tube ring specimens and inside the tube ring walls. This standard can also be used to evaluate the ability of metal tubes to withstand plastic deformation.
This standard is applicable to metal tubes with an outer diameter of 18 mm to 150 mm (including 150 mm) and a wall thickness of 2 mm to 16 mm (including 16 mm).
