Scope

This standard specifies a test method for expanding metal tube ring specimens using a conical mandrel until they break, in order to reveal defects on the surface of the metal tube ring specimens and inside the tube ring walls. This method can also be used to evaluate the ability of metal tubes to withstand plastic deformation. This standard is applicable to metal tube rings with an outer diameter of 18 mm to 150 mm and a wall thickness of 2 mm to 16 mm.
