Scope

This standard specifies a general method for converting heavy metals into sulfides in acetic acid medium and determining them by visual colorimetry. This standard is applicable to the determination of heavy metals in chemical reagents expressed as lead. The detection range of the colorimetry method using saturated hydrogen sulfide aqueous solution is 0.3 μg/mL to 2 μg/mL (expressed as Pb); and the detection range of the colorimetry method using sodium sulfide and propylene glycol is 0.4 μg/mL to 3 μg/mL (expressed as Pb).
