Scope

This document specifies a test method for exposing samples to wetting conditions under an open carbon arc lamp, which is used to reproduce the natural aging effects of simulated materials exposed to solar radiation or solar radiation filtered through window glass in actual use environments. This document is applicable to the weathering resistance evaluation of plastics under carbon arc lamp exposure conditions and the weathering resistance comparison tests between plastics. The samples are exposed to filtered open carbon arc lamps under controlled environmental conditions (temperature, wetting). Various filters are available for selection. The sample preparation and result evaluation for specific materials refer to other national standards. ISO 48921 provides general principles.
