1.1 This standard specifies the principles for the compilation of national railway line name codes (line numbers) and compiles the line name codes of national railway main lines (temporarily missing in Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan).
1.2 This standard is applicable to information processing and exchange related to railway line name codes in fields such as surveying and mapping, land resources management, and railway infrastructure management; it is not applicable to fields with different rules, such as information processing and exchange related to railway transportation operations.
