Figure 1: Horse Tail Combing Flowchart 4.2 Process Instructions 4.2.1 Inspection Inspect the relevant animal quarantine certificates. 4.2.2 Sorting by Color Sort the mixed horse tails into black, white, gray, brown, and multicolored categories. 4.2.3 Washing Soak the sorted horse tails in laundry detergent (or soap) water to remove dirt and impurities, then rinse them thoroughly with clean water. 4.2.4 Drying Dry the washed horse tails naturally under sunlight or by air-drying. 4.2.5 Brushing on a Nail Board Brush the dried horse tails repeatedly on a nail board to remove residual fluff, loose hairs, and impurities until the hairs are smooth. 4.2.6 Steam Treatment Steam the horse tails for more than 2 hours to ensure they are clean, hygienic, straight, and resilient. 4.2.7 Trimming and Sorting Choose one of the following methods: a) Rolling Method Spread a piece of muslin on the ground, pull out the horse tails one by one from the nail board, arrange them neatly on the muslin, and roll it up with iron hooks at both ends. Use clips to pluck the horse tails from the root, creating a neatly trimmed end. b) Grid Method Spread the horse tails evenly on a grid, compact them with weights, and pluck the horse tails from the root with clips, creating a neatly trimmed end. 4.2.8 After Trimming and Sorting Pull out the horse tails layer by layer from the tail tip and bundle them into evenly sized bundles. 4.2.9 After Bundling Brush the bundled horse tails again with a comb or pull them repeatedly on a nail board until the hairs are straight. 4.2.10 Tailoring Tap the neatly trimmed end of the horse tails onto a flat surface with a wooden board. 4.2.11 Plucking Pull out the horse tails one by one from the root, starting from the top and gradually working downward, ensuring uniform length. 4.2.12 Screening Us
