Scope

This standard specifies the dimensions, materials, technical requirements, and markings of spring collets (type A and type B), collet seats, and nuts used for clamping cylindrical-shaft tools. For spring collets that do not comply with this standard, such as those specified separately in drawings, the decision shall be made through consultation between the supplier and the purchaser.
Type A is used for milling and other applications where there are hardness requirements for the clamping hole, with a clamping tolerance range of h10.
Type B is generally used in situations requiring an expanded clamping range.
