Scope

This standard specifies the test methods for the length of short chemical fibers: the weighing method of the middle section of the fiber bundle, the single fiber instrument measurement method (Appendix A), and the manual measurement of single fibers (Appendix B). In case of disputes, the weighing method of the middle section of the fiber bundle shall be adopted. When this method is not applicable, the parties concerned shall agree on the corresponding test methods. This standard is applicable to the determination of the average length, length deviation rate, ultra-long fiber rate, and bifurcated fiber content of short chemical fibers such as polyester (polyester), polyamide (nylon), polyacrylonitrile (acrylic fiber), polypropylene, polyvinyl alcohol formaldehyde (viscose), and cellulose fibers.
