Scope

The purpose of this section is to specify the maximum sound power level (LWA) of motors in terms of power, speed, and load, measured in dB(A); and to stipulate the testing methods and experimental conditions for determining the sound power level of motors, providing a standard for assessing whether the motor noise meets the specified maximum sound power level. This section does not provide corrections for pure tone characteristics.
