Scope

This standard specifies a method for determining the effective residual ink concentration (ERIC value) in pulp and paper - the infrared reflectance measurement method. This standard is applicable to deinking pulp, recycled pulp containing black residual ink, and machine-made paper produced using recycled pulp. This standard is only applicable when the opacity of the sample under infrared irradiation at a wavelength of 950 nm is less than 97.0%.
