Scope

Scope: This standard specifies the terms and definitions, product classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking and labeling, packaging, transportation, storage, and shelf life of yellow tea. This standard applies to tea made from the buds, leaves, and tender stems of medium- and small-leaved tea trees grown in Yueyang City, Hunan Province, which undergo processes such as withering, rolling (non-essential step), oxidation, drying, refining, or steam-pressing, and exhibit characteristics of yellow infusion and yellow leaves. This standard applies to tea made from the buds, leaves, and tender stems of medium- and small-leaved tea trees grown in Yueyang City, Hunan Province, which undergo processes such as withering, rolling (non-essential step), oxidation, drying, refining, or steam-pressing, and exhibit characteristics of yellow infusion and yellow leaves. According to the differences in raw material and processing methods, the products are divided into four categories: Yueyang Junshan Silver Needle, Yueyang Huangya, Yueyang Huangye, and Yueyang Compressed Huangcha. Based on the tenderness of the raw materials and sensory quality, Yueyang Junshan Silver Needle and Yueyang Huangya are divided into special grade and first grade; Yueyang Huangye and Yueyang Compressed Huangcha (including Compressed Golden Flower Huangcha) are divided into special grade, first grade, and second grade.
