Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, instrument structure, technical requirements, and testing methods for laser confocal micro-Raman spectrometers.
This standard applies to dispersive confocal micro-Raman spectrometers (hereinafter referred to as instruments) with a continuous laser as the excitation light source, and with a single-stage, two-stage, or three-stage spectrometer.
This standard does not apply to non-dispersive Raman spectrometers such as Fourier transform Raman spectrometers and Raman spectrometers based on pulsed laser light sources.
